Where there’s a will there’s a way…We at times feel whether this old adage was coined looking at someone like Anand Kumar. A mathematician and educationist, who has made it possible for underprivileged students to dream of joining top technical institutes (read, IITs) of this country, his own life story is no less fascinating. Coming from an economically backward background, he had to forego the chance to go to Cambridge University for higher studies in 1994. His fight with poverty since childhood made him decide to do something for the students with a similar handicap. He founded the “Ramanujan School of Mathematics” and started mentoring underprivileged students for various competitive examinations at a nominal fee. The endeavor helped him give shape to the brilliant idea of what we know as the Super 30 program. He, along with his family members, came up with this program of guiding 30 poor but talented students for the IIT entrance examination free of cost. The program yielded phenomenal results from the very first year and 212 out of 240 students have made it to various IITs across the country in their journey of 8 years. What a feat indeed!
It was our privilege to have such an amazing personality as the Chief Guest to distribute the Ramabai Smruti Shikshan Prabodhan Puraskar at our very own Glocal Square. Organized by our Goel Ganga Foundation and Sevasadan Education Society, it was an enlightening event, in which, Narayan Samarth, founder of Shri Mangal Bahuuddeshiya Education, Technical Education, and Training Institute, was felicitated for his contribution towards promoting education.
Anand Kumar, in his address, put stress on the benefits of education and also appealed to the teachers and the parents to appreciate the unique potential each child possesses.
Our Managing Director, Mr. Atul Goel along with MLC Nago Ganar Seva Sadan President, Kanchan Gadkari, Indubala Mukewar, Narayan Samarth and Vasanti Bhagwat had graced the occasion.
We look forward to having similar enriching experiences with #GlocalGurus like them for years to come!
